Available Players & Trading

Players are available for signing in your squad if they appear in the official team squads of the NRL AND have played at least 1 game of NRL in their career. As players transfer and arrive in the real club squads mid-season, our data will make them available once under their new club.

Real mid-season transfers of players between clubs does NOT affect you signed squad in any way. Points accrued for their old club remain, then they start to collect points for games with their new club (assuming they are a ‘named’ player).

The available players in the fantasy competition can be viewed at any time by visiting the ‘Available Players’ page. Here you can see a tabulated view of the player names, position(s), their availability (Injured, Suspended, Available), and which squad currently owns the player (if any).

Note: The availability feature does NOT include representative selection.

Player names can be searched, filtered by club, or by position to enable quick selection. Clicking the players name will lead to the Player Statistics page. This shows current season results, along with historical seasons for comparison.

Positions

A player can be played in up to 2 positions as indicated on the Available Players page.

The system determines a player’s position eligibility from historical NRL game data. A player must have been named in a position and played in at least 10 NRL games before they are eligible to play in that position within FSZ. Using the 10-game minimum model, the game works backwards through the career of each player from current day, to determine their 1 or 2 most recent eligible positions.

Rookie players are added to the available list once they have played 1 NRL game. Their initial club nominated position is used for gameplay until they reach the 10 games eligibility in one position.

Player Trading

Players can be released and signed from the player pool throughout the season depending on the trade rules defined for your competition. At this point in time, trading directly with other teams is not available. The trade limits are noted clearly on the Available Players page where signings are actioned. Players can only be released from your squad once the maximum squad size is filled.

The competition manager can set:

  • A maximum number a trades per season, AND
  • A maximum number of trades per round.

These two values work together to limit the number trades per squad throughout the season.

A trade is counted when a player is ‘signed’. By default, the system effectively allows for one player signing per round. This can be reduced or increased at the competition managers discretion prior to the competition starting.

During the draft event AND prior to the season starting, there are no trade limits imposed except for the lockout time between signings during the draft event.

Loan Players

The NRL draw is filled with rounds that have multiple teams on a bye, particularly around the representiative season. Points are only allocated to your squad for NRL club games, so there is potential for you to be short of players around this time.

On NRL rounds that have 3 or more clubs on a bye, there is the option to ‘loan’ 1 or more players from the available pool into your team for that round only. The loaned player will automatically drop back onto the available players list at round conclusion and be available for anyone to sign.

The comp manager will set the quota of loan players available for these particular rounds.
